The municipal falla for 2027 is a 20-metre tribute to the Valencian singer Nino Bravo titled “Vuelvo a mi tierra”, built by Baena Tandem to a design by José Luis Santos. It is the first municipal falla made entirely from ecological materials — wood, cereal-flour glue, recycled paper and card, cork and vegetable-pigment paints — and assembled using solar power. The children's falla, “El tiempo de Fallas” by Ceballos & Sanabria, shows the fallero year as an illustrated diary.
Fixed by tradition and already certain: 1–19 March daily mascletà at 14:00, La Plantà on 15–16 March, the Ofrenda on 17–18 March, Nit del Foc in the early hours of 19 March, and La Cremà on 19 March 2027. Still to be confirmed by Junta Central Fallera: La Crida (expected 28 February 2027), the Cabalgata del Ninot, the Exposición del Ninot dates and the pyrotechnic calendar, which is normally published in January.
They do not overlap, but they are back to back. La Cremà falls on Friday 19 March 2027, Palm Sunday is 21 March and Easter Sunday 28 March. Valencia therefore hosts two major festivals within ten days, including the Semana Santa Marinera in the Cabanyal, Canyamelar and Grau districts. Accommodation across the whole second half of March sells out unusually early.
Las Fallas 2027 run from 1 to 19 March 2027, and the main festival week is 15–19 March. La Cremà, the burning of all monuments, takes place on the night of Friday 19 March 2027. The opening ceremony, La Crida, is expected on Sunday 28 February 2027 (last Sunday of February); Junta Central Fallera confirms the official date in autumn 2026.
Yes! Almost everything at Fallas is free. Viewing the fallas monuments, the daily Mascletà, the Ofrenda procession, and La Cremà are all free and open to the public. The only paid event is the Ninot Exhibition (around €4–6).
La Mascletà is a unique daytime fireworks display focused on sound rather than visuals. It happens every day at 2:00 PM at Plaza del Ayuntamiento from March 1–19. It lasts about 7–8 minutes and the sound is so powerful you feel it in your chest. It's one of the most intense sensory experiences at any festival worldwide.
La Cremà (The Burning) is the climactic finale on March 19 when all 750+ fallas monuments are set on fire. The children's fallas burn at 8 PM, larger ones from 10 PM, and the prize-winning falla burns at midnight at Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It's an incredibly emotional and spectacular event.
For the full experience, 3–5 days during the final week (March 15–19) is ideal. If you can only spare 2 days, come for March 18–19 to see the Nit del Foc and La Cremà. For a budget-friendly visit, the first two weeks offer the daily Mascletà with lower accommodation prices.
Yes, Valencia is very safe during Fallas. There is a strong police presence throughout the festival. The main things to watch out for are pickpockets in crowded areas (normal for any large European event), firecrackers in the streets (wear closed shoes), and the heat during La Cremà (keep a safe distance). Emergency number: 112.
Absolutely! Fallas is a family-friendly festival. Children love the fallas monuments, the music, and the atmosphere. For the Mascletà, bring ear protection for young children. For La Cremà, keep kids at a safe distance. The children's fallas (fallas infantiles) burn earlier in the evening and are perfect for families.
Spanish (Castellano) and Valencian (Valencià) are both widely spoken. Many Valencians speak English, especially in tourist areas. Learning a few phrases like "Visca les Falles!" (Long live Fallas!) in Valencian is always appreciated.
Buñuelos de calabaza are sold at street stalls throughout the city during Fallas — you'll find them on nearly every major street. The best ones have long queues. Traditional chocolaterías like Santa Catalina in the old town also serve excellent buñuelos with thick hot chocolate.
The Ninot Indultat is the one figure (ninot) saved from the flames each year. During the Ninot Exhibition (February to 15 March), visitors vote for their favorite figure from all the fallas. The winning ninot is "pardoned" and preserved in the Museo Fallero instead of being burned.
Viele Valencianer sprechen Englisch, besonders in touristischen Gegenden.
